Why?

FiveThirtyEight: "The regression line finds that, for every point's worth of increase in the unemployment rate, approval of labor unions goes down by 2.6 points."

I think a lot of people have unrealistic expectations of the ability of some unions to protect them from financial decisions. It would be interesting to see what percentage of those currently unemployed are card-carrying union members.
